Terry has a Masters’ degree in community counseling from Western Carolina University. She has received postgraduate training in EEG neurofeedback and biofeedback. She integrates solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral talk therapy with neurofeedback and other forms of biofeedback. Her areas of interest include college transition, grief, anxiety, depression, and stress reduction. She sees adolescents, adults and couples. Terry explores human developmental issues as a groundwork area for individual counseling, focusing on clients’ self-identity, social community, and relationships.
Terry worked at the WCU Counseling Center for five years post graduation with traditional and nontraditional students in individual and group work. Terry serves as adjunct instructor as needed in the areas of counseling and psychology. She enjoys working with college-aged students as they negotiate their status as emerging adults.
Terry’s interest in couples work has led her to an eclectic approach that is grounded in the research of Dr. John Gottman. With couples’ work, Terry takes the relationship as the client and is invested in helping couples develop skills to feed the relationship to strengthen its stability and provide room for growth.
